Press Release Summary: Day One of the Movistar Kiteboarding World Cup 2007 went under a wind delay.
Press Release Body: Extreme kiteboarding action goes to a remote but magnificent location in Playa de Matanzas in Chile. The town of Matanzas is a small village in the west coast of central Chile and is fast becoming famous as a venue for surfing and other water sports enthusiasts. This year, Matanzas will play witness to the much anticipated grand finale of the 2007 PKRA World Tour, with the world champion title still up for grabs and is being contested by the current top two kiteboarders of the PKRA. A total of 30 men and 4 women kiteboarders, representing 20 nationalities registered for the event which will run until the 6th of October, 2007.
Although both the competitors and everyone at the venue were very much excited to see action, day one of the Chilean round dubbed as the Movistar Kiteboarding World Cup 2007 went into an immediate postponement as the wind was a no show for the whole day. Overcast skies dominated much of the first day which added to the chilling weather condition that peaked at 9.8° Celsius.
The mandatory skippers meeting started at exactly 12:30 pm and then the Freestyle ladder drawing followed. After about half an hour, there was a special skippers meeting for the Wave competitors where they discussed the format, judging and rules for the event. Lunch was served afterwards under the competition tent. With no hopes of wind, the competition was called off for the day at around 16:00h.
Tomorrow's weather outlook seems promising, with the wave swell forecast providing some good conditions during the early part of the week. Skippers meeting is scheduled at 12:00pm with first possible start of 13:00h. Kicking off the start of the competition will be the Freestyle event for the men's division followed by the women's freestyle competition.
